At most colleges and universities that require standardized testing for admission, the ACT is accepted in lieu of the SAT. The total number of students opting for the ACT now exceeds those choosing the SAT (about 1.84 million versus approximately 1.67 million). The overall average composite ACT score is slightly more than 20, which corresponds to an SAT score range of 1390-1440 (on the 2400-point scale). Middle 50% ACT scores at selective schools are often above 30, such as Columbia University (32-35), Cornell University (30-33), Dartmouth College (30-34), Harvard University (32-35), and Johns Hopkins University (30-33). At Stanford University, 90% of accepted students who took the ACT scored 30 or better, and applicants who received scores in this range were twice as likely as their lower scoring peers to be offered admission. An ACT score of 30 is in the 95th percentile of all test-takers, but students who devote ample effort to their preparation and undergo professional instruction are capable of meeting this benchmark.

Manhattan Review's test prep services have helped thousands of students get accepted to the world's best universities, including Harvard, MIT, Dartmouth, Cornell, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Duke, and the University of Chicago. Thousands of our former test prep clients have finished their degree programs, and are now valued employees of Fortune 500 companies and firms in Mexico City, such as Express Scripts Holding, Archer Daniels Midland, United Technologies, Bank of America, Inbursa, Bandidos Films, Grupo Imagen, and Pemex. A degree from a prestigious university leads to a prosperous and rewarding career. Competition for acceptance to the top universities is intense, but students with high standardized tests scores have a significant advantage. Meet a Mexico City ACT Tutor: Lynn V.

Lynn V. has been a Manhattan Review prep tutor for several standardized tests since 2007. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and a master's degree from the University of Michigan, both in chemistry. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she has lived in Mexico City since 2014. She has four years of experience as a high school science teacher at a public school outside of Detroit, and she was also a teaching assistant in graduate school.

Lynn's experience as a secondary and post-secondary educator makes her well suited for prep tutoring. "As someone who has taught at both the high school and college levels, I have a firm understanding of my ACT clients' current and future academic environments," she says. "It's hard to be an effective educator if you don't have credibility with your students, but my teaching experience gives me that credibility." Lynn is pleased to announce her engagement to a former classmate at Michigan, with the wedding to take place next year.
